Summit XC3 - the new reference in the Performance Intermediate class

Tuesday, 18 February 2014

The new UP Summit XC3 is intended to close the gap between the Kantega XC2 and the Trango XC2. It has the speed and the overall performance of a new-generation EN C wing, but as a typical UP wing it is simply quite a bit safer to fly, and it has been certified EN B in the M size already. We expect the S and the L to be certified B as well!

Note that the colour shown in the image is not a 2014 standard colour

DSC 0051 cropThe Summit XC3 is the first UP wing to incorporate what we have decided to call the New Generation Aerofoil. Simply put, the NGA allows us to control the internal pressure in the wing better at all angles of attack while also making for a more solid leading edge. This means that the new Summit XC3 eats turbulence better, and converts bumps into altitude better, than previous models.
When you read this, our new baby is still in the final stages of the certification procedure for the M size. We have already ordered the S and the L versions from the proto lab, and expect them to pass within the next few weeks. The M size should be ready to ship to distributors from early April, with the other sizes to follow shortly thereafter.

Just like the rest of the UP wings the new Summit XC3 will be available in totally new 2014 colours - we hope you like them, and look forward to presenting this new wing exhaustively in the next few weeks. Please note that the colour combo shown here is NOT a 2014 colour combination; it is just a prototype wing.
