C-handles on a 2-liner? Yes, there is such a thing!

Mittwoch, 07 Februar 2024

It is a widespread misconception that a two-liner always has only A and B levels. The new MERU 2 (EN/LTF D), as a genuine two-liner, has a branching of the gallery lines on four line levels: A, B, C and D. In other words, if you look closely at the suspension points of the line levels on the lower sail, you will see that the A and B levels are ultimately brought together on the "A main" lines. The C and D gallery lines are also combined and converge on the "C main" lines. If you were to call the rear riser B riser instead of C riser, this would mean that the C and D lines are suspended on the B riser. This would be very misleading, which is why we call it "C". Accordingly, the term C-handles is completely correct here. However, if the term C-handles or C-steering requires too much explanation in this context, you can use the term "rear riser steering" instead. This means that you can fly even more efficiently in thermals by steering via the rear line level. Our 2.5-liners (e.g. KIBO X (EN/LTF B), SUMMIT X (EN/LTF B), KANGRI X (EN/LTF B) and TRANGO X (EN/LTF C)) have a similar behaviour.
