The German free-flying regulations stipulate a fixed service interval of two years for paragliders. This means that in order to be "legal" when flying under German law, your wing must be checked by an approved service facility every two years. The UP HQ performs very many of these checks, and we could be checking yours too, if the German regulations make sense to you (they do to us...).

During a 2-years' check the following services are carried out:

• Porosity check of the canopy cloth
• Visual control of the canopy for damage, abrasion or other,
• Visual control of the risers, maillons and lines,
• Breaking-load check of individual lines, to discover invisible weaknesses,
• Line length conformity check, using our own laser-based measuring station,
• Restoration of the optimal symmetry and trim configuration based on the measurements taken above,
• Placement of the check placard,

All of this for 169€ plus return shipment in normal times, and 149€ off from Mid-Oct. till the end of December - there was never a better time to buy yourself some cheap peace of mind... And further, if you stick the reserve in with the wing you can have that piece of kit repacked for an extra 20€, making the total cost of the glider check plus reserve repack just 169€ plus shipping.
