Adi & Peter in Brazil - big distances, new territories

Sonntag, 11 Dezember 2016

For upwards of 20 years pilots have been travelling to the arid Northeastern parts of Brazil to try and fly records and personal bests. Traditionally the focus has been on famous launches like Quixadá in the state of Ceará, and more recently Tacima in neighbouring Paraiba state (site of the recent World Record), but when UP Team Pilots Adi Seitz and Peter Hilger went to Brazil they set out to show the world that there are many more options for km-hungry pilots out there!

Adi & Peter in Brazil - big distances, new territories

One of the sites Peter opened up in his quest for novel XC experiences seems to be entirely new, with just him having flown from it - this is good exploration style XC, and something to be proud of not least because he managed a whopping 300+ km from that one! In general, Peter seems to be on a serious roll right now, leading the Sports Class in the XContest with all the innovative flying he clocked up in Brazil a few weeks ago!

Adi flew most of his flights from the Quixadá launch, except for one day when he took the Summit XC4 towing at the Morada Nova airstrip (see the gallery below). He didn't quite crack the 300km mark, but had a few flights where he got close. Both of the pilots came home raving about the new Summit wing, which had treated them very well in the sometimes precarious conditions of the Brazilian "Sertão". Back home in Garmisch-Partenkirchen we're all stoked for the guys and their performance, and jealous like nobody's business for the adventures they have had without us!
